Fun & Educational Itinerary for Younger Children.

 

Dolly Hall provides a safe and exciting environment for younger children to enjoy outdoor adventures, creative activities, and team games—all without the need to travel beyond the immediate area. This 3-day, 2-night itinerary is designed to keep children engaged, active, and learning while having fun in the beautiful natural surroundings.

 

Day 1: Welcome to Dolly Hall & Forest Fun

 

Afternoon:

  • Arrive at Dolly Hall, settle in, and explore the lodge.

  • Forest Discovery Walk – A gentle introduction to the local woodland, looking for animal tracks, insects, and birds.

  • Nature Art Challenge – Collect leaves, twigs, and stones to create natural artwork.

 

Evening:

  • Campfire & Stories – Gather around the fire to toast marshmallows and enjoy storytelling.

 

Day 2: Bushcraft & Creative Adventures

 

Morning:

  • Bushcraft Basics – Learn essential outdoor skills like den-building.

Day 2: Hike up Cader Idris, followed by canoeing/kayaking on the River Dovey.

Day 3: Orienteering in Coed y Brenin Forest Park and visit to Dyfi Osprey Project before departure.

 

2. Geography & Environmental Studies (4 Days, 3 Nights)

 

Day 1: Introduction to Snowdonia’s landscapes with a walk along the Dyfi Estuary.

Day 2: Field studies at Cwm Idwal and Afon Mawddach River.

Day 3: Coastal erosion and climate change studies at Borth & Ynyslas.

Day 4: Visit to the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) before departure.

 

3. History & Culture (3 Days, 2 Nights)

 

Day 1: Visit to Harlech Castle and an evening of Welsh legends.

Day 2: Ride the Talyllyn Railway and explore the Llechwedd Slate Caverns.

Day 3: Traditional crafts at Corris Craft Centre before heading home.
